Before you’re actually going to start a new blog, here are 10 factors that you should know before you launch it.

1/ Are you launch a new blog because of your existing blog?

Sometimes, your first blog really needs another blog to push your original blog up. However, if you didn’t get the right result that you examined on your original blog and it’s great to re-examine it on your new blog.

2/ Will you have time?

Working on your computer is very time consuming because sometimes you get distracted from many things like games, Facebook, Twitter…  And most bloggers are working so on a part-time basis, if you’re intended to manage another blog, it could have a significant impact on your schedule.

3/ Are you ready to Compete with other Niches?

Every small topic has a their own niche, it can be big or small…

…and of course some topics can be easy and hard to compete but based on a person experienced who stay on a particular niche for a long time, it can definitely be hard for those who hasn’t known well about that topic to compete with, so all you have to do, is, enjoy what you like to do.

4/ Should you double up your Social Media Profile?

Every single person has a new blog, they usually have their own social media profile.

For example: Chris Brogan from ChrisBrogan.com has it Twitter name @ChrisBrogan which means if you have a different domain name, you should as well definitely want to create a separate social media…

…so readers can follow up with the latest updates you’d like to share with them.

All strategies at blogging are all the same for every single niche, but it depends on what you’re blogging about.

For example: If you wanna get traffic, one of the best ways is to guest post and leave comments around blog.

But if you wanna get targeted traffic, all you have to do is to guest post on blog that are blogging as the same topic as you and leave comments wherever you want.

  1. Wonderful questions Ferb!

Yes indeed, it’s easy to start as many blogs as you want, though you need to ask yourself the above mentioned questions or the main reasons as to why you are really wanting to start a new blog.

Speaking of myself, I feel managing one blog is good enough if you can do it well – and mine hardly leaves me time to think of any other. Yes, I do have another writing blog that I need to re-do as yet. But like you mentioned, due to the lack of time many a times you really can’t be at many places, so the decisions have to be made wisely. :)

Thanks for sharing and the reminder too. :)

    • Hey Harleena,

Starting a new blog is such an easy thing to do, but as it started, we gotta see which is most important to spend more time on.

Managing one blog is also good enough for me and glad that I haven’t thought of any new excuses to start another blog topic to blog about or I’d be really busy.

Thanks that you like my post – Ferb

  2. Ferb, You have mentioned almost all the questions which arises when starting a second blog, The few reasons for starting another blog could be also to tryout new categories and most important is managing multiple blogs requires more time.

  3. Hey Ferb, I think the one mistake most bloggers make is that they start a 2nd blog without taking their first blog to a level where It can go forward. Focusing on one blog at a time is good idea and will help in taking it to high level easily, isn’t it?

    • Hi Ehsan, that is exactly, when starting a 2nd blog, the 1st one should definitely be working up by itself so we can have more time to work on the second blog.

      Thanks for Comment – Ferb

  4. Ferb, #10 is the most important and probably the reason I have 8 blogs. (If you count a photo blog) The past few years I could not sleep well and it gave me something to do :) I also love having more than one niche to work with because I tend to get bored just working on one thing all the time. But it’s definitely a lot of work having more than one to work one.

    • Lisa, whoa 8 blogs! That are so many blogs for me you owned and I probably can’t handle all myself if I have that many blogs. Best of luck to you.

      Thanks – Ferb

  5. Hi Ferb, This is indeed some thought-provoking questions which certainly needs answers.
